Maria Shell circles and curves workshop
In January I took a Maria Shell Class which was part of Craft Napa, workshop series that Pokey Bolton organised. It was held over three days at the beginning of January. Maria showed us how to do various improv techniques for circles and curves and from components that we manufactured during the workshop a quilt gradually evolved.
Initially I made a selection of 12 colours for my colour palette. Maria encourage us to include a red, blue, green and yellow, and to think about value as we worked. It’s interesting to see that despite this guidance the colours in this quilt look decidedly “me” although it is completely unlike any other quilt I have made.
For quilting, I used my Amanda Murphy circle rulers and curves to further develop the curvy theme.
Improv is a technique I definitely enjoy doing!
