This work is called “Amish restructured “. It reminds me of the Amish. Their tradition of wearing brimmed hats, their children playing with faceless dolls. The bold colourful geometry. contrasts and modern colour of this piece give a dramatic representation.

Series: Squares go Wild
The following series of 4 all contain my favourite square motif. Squares are supposed to behave. They’re meant to line up, stay even, follow the grid.
But in Squares Go Wild, the rules loosen. This series takes the familiar language of blocks and structure and lets it misbehave — stretch, strut, stack, interrupt, and spill over. They can vary in size. Grids wobble. Shapes push against each other like they’re trying to start a conversation. What begins as order becomes rhythm. What looks controlled starts to feel alive.
These works celebrate structure — but not obedience. They explore what happens when repetition meets personality, when geometry gets a sense of humor, when “square” stops meaning safe.

The works that follow are inspired by the vertical rhythm, colour shifts and subtle figure-ground tension.
In “Where the Light Breaks” the flat cool shades allow the off centre red lines to glow. The light from behind comes flooding through creating depth and movement.

“Earth holds Light” below is altogether warmer in tone, but still has the majority of flat values which enhance the minor glowing tones. It reminds me of the earth pigments in the desert and the glowing warmth of the setting sun.
