Ripples on still water
This quilt was based on a photograph I took of one of the swans I was observing during the first COVID19 lockdown. I constructed a raw appliqué tiled background from a variety of watery fabrics, overlaid the background with silk organza that I cut away and then superimposed a digital photograph of a swan that I had photographed and had printed onto fabric. I was fascinated by the ripples on the water that my phone captured brilliantly. See the gallery below which shows photos and fabrics used to try and achieve the desired effect.
